So, maybe the blame is starting more quickly than I thought. The SMH has Stephen Smith and Brendan O’Connor noting that Federal factors are part of the problem. Abbott is quick to jump on the stories about mining tax and carbon tax.
I think (as I’ve noted before) that he needs to be careful with these themes, I don’t think they resonate as well nationally. He would be better to stick to cost of living (and note that the carbon tax impacted that), economic growth (and the impacts of the mining tax on that), the budget position (and the impacts of both the carbon tax and mining tax on that), and then the old standbys of boat people and big government – particularly big government that is poking it’s nose into state business.
